This qualification has been developed with the support of Addiction; the UK’s specialist drug and alcohol treatment charity. Over an eight week period you will study one day per week, leading to a substance misuse qualification that will help you gain knowledge and understanding of substance misuse, what triggers this, implications for social and emotional well-being and the impact upon society, self and others. You will gain an understanding of some of the key values and principles that underpin support offered to people misusing substances.
Do you want to work in health care? This is an exciting new health training course, heavily influenced by strong partnerships between the College, the Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust and Livewell Southwest. The course is specifically designed to provide you with the knowledge and understanding required to work in health and social care or progress to further study. Throughout the year, you will cover units specific to the care sector with an emphasis on elderly care, together with opportunities to enhance your transferable employability skills.
Do you want to train as a youth worker? This part-time youth work course could suit you if you can commit to finding a suitable work placement in a youth setting and volunteering there one day per week. You’ll also attend City College Plymouth for two full days per week for a duration of four weeks. This exciting course starts at award level and provides you with all of the basic knowledge and understanding of the role of a youth worker – this may inspire you to pursue a career in youth services or volunteering, subject to further training and qualifications advice via a youth specialist. A DBS check may be required.
