This qualification aims to provide expert guidance to those wishing to gain knowledge and understanding of electric vehicle charging equipment installation.

It will allow you to learn, develop and practice the skills required for employment and/or career progression in the electro technology sector.

City College Plymouth will provide all tools and equipment required for your training. We offer a free breakfast for all of our students and short course delegates will be given a free lunch voucher to use in our Food Court.

Course Description

The course covers the following subjects:

  • – an understanding of the key requirements of electric vehicle charging equipment
  • – design, preparation and assessing suitability of earthing and supply types
  • – financial incentives and how they are applied
  • – recognising the types, modes and requirements for electric vehicle charging
  • – inspection and testing of electric vehicle charging installations
  • – certification, commissioning and notification of electric vehicle charging equipment.

You must be at least 18 years of age and be conversant with the relevant wiring regulations, and initial verification and commissioning. This can be demonstrated by holding relevant qualifications in BS 7671, and inspection and testing.

 

IMPORTANT ENTRY REQUIREMENT UPDATE FOR REGISTRATIONS FROM 01/09/23 

To take this qualification you must be a competent electrician and hold one of the qualifications listed below, with the relevant AM test (eg AM2/S/E/D): 

– Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Installing Electrotechnical Systems and Equipment (Buildings, Structures and the Environment) 

– Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrotechnical Services (Electrical Maintenance) 

– Level 3 Electrotechnical Qualification
Level 3 in Electrotechnical Services Experienced Worker 

– Level 3 NVQ in Electrotechnical Services – Electrical Installation (Building and Structures) 

– Level 3 Electrotechnical Experienced Worker Qualification

– Level 3 Electrotechnical in Dwellings 

– Level 3 EAL Building Services Engineering – Electrotechnical Installation 

– equivalent historical qualifications (see EAS Table 4B/4C, and the EAS Qualifications Guide)  

– or, hold an ECS Gold Card as a JIB Electrician or Approved Electrician. 

Delegates should bring with them a copy of the Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation, 5th Edition.

You will be assessed via a multiple-choice online exam.

 

Fees quoted apply to courses starting in the academic year 2024/2025 (August 2024-July 2025).  There may be a slight increase in fees for courses starting 2025/2026.
