City College Plymouth runs a Junior Bar and Barista Academy, one evening per week between 5.00pm and 7.30pm. For those who are thinking of a career in the food service industry, it will whet your appetite for joining us in the future.

Course Description

 

Working with our professional chef lecturers in our award-winning bar and restaurant, this four-week course will give you a taste of working in the beverage industry. You’ll learn how to make delicious hot drinks and non-alcoholic cocktails, as well as gain experience of using industry-standard equipment.We’ll also teach you essential customer service skills, as well as table service (including silver service) and flambe service.
 
We will supply all the ingredients, and any equipment that you will need to fully participate in all activities. Please wear a long-sleeved top, full length trouser (not jeans) and flat shoes with a non-slip bottom (not trainers).
 
You will need to be aged 14 to 16 and have a genuine interest in learning barista and bar skills.
